On Tuesday, February 23, at 7:30 pm, classical enthusiasts will find themselves “transported” by a dazzling performance from young Chinese pianist, Xiayin Wang, as she makes her Illinois debut at Nichols Hall in Evanston. Tickets ($20/adults, $15 seniors, $7/students) can be reserved ahead of time by calling 1-800-595-4848, or by visiting www.tix.com. They can also be purchased at the door.

For her upcoming recital at Nichols Hall, Ms. Wang will be performing selections from her recent CD, “Scriabin Piano Music” (Naxos, May 2009) that debuted on Billboard’s classical album chart. It has received rave reviews from Gramophone, and most recently from Jerry Dubins of Fanfare, who wrote: “The music here, and Wang’s playing of it are of an exquisite beauty beyond description.”

Xiayin Wang, has received international recognition for her performances as recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral soloist.  She made her New York debut in 2006 at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center and in 2007, she made her New York orchestral debut at Carnegie Hall with the City Symphony.
Born in Shanghai, Ms. Wang completed studies at the Shanghai Conservatory and garnered an enviable record of first prize awards and special honors for her performances throughout China. She has played with many of China’s leading orchestras and in the country’s most prestigious concert halls.
