 A member of the Central Conservatory piano faculty in Beijing\, pianist Xiang Zou celebrates the centennial of Olivier Messiaen’s birth with a performance of the French master’s monumental <em>Vingt Regards sur l’Enfant Jésus</em>. This 20-movement solo piano cycle\, composed in 1944 for Yvonne Loriod\, is considered one of the greatest piano works of the 20th century and the summit of Messiaen’s keyboard writing. Xiang Zou was the first pianist to perform this cycle in China and the youngest pianist ever to be named first laureate of Canada’s Honens International Piano Competition. An artist of the highest sensitivity\, imagination\, and focus who combines passion with consummate musicality\, he has performed at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall\, Ottawa’s National Arts Centre\, Bolzano’s Busoni Festival\, Toronto’s Women’s Musical Club\, the Banff Center\, the Chicago Cultural Center\, the Beijing Modern Music Festival\, and other major festivals and concert halls.<br />
