Brahms’ Double Concerto for violin and cello, written for two of the composer’s friends, is his final orchestral work. From its majestic opening to the gypsy finale, this is one of the most beloved of all concertos.

Fulcrum Point marks this 10th Concert for Peace by presenting four Midwest premieres exploring relationships and the nature of love and war through music and poetry from the perspectives of soldiers, spouses and prisoners. The program includes Midwest premieres of “Songs of Love and War” by Paul Moravec, “Three Letters from the Unknown Soldier” by Poul Ruders, “Camp Songs” by Poul Schoenfield and “Peace” by David Schiff.

The audience is invited to stay for a post-concert reception and discussion with the composers and performers. There will be complimentary wine from VinDiVino and refreshments.

Directed by British baroque violinist, Garry Clarke, Baroque Band are ‘a stylish and exciting period-instrument ensemble’ (Chicago Tribune) who have made an immediate impact on the Chicago music scene.

Jennifer Ellis is one of America’s leading early music singers and has sung with the Washington Bach Consort, the Bach Choir of Bethlehem, and the New York Collegium with Andrew Parrott conducting. Her international career has included appearances with the period instrument groups American Bach Soloists, Portland Baroque Orchestra, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Seattle Baroque Orchestra, Opera Lafayette, Musica Angelica, Magnificat, and Washington Cathedral Choral Society.

The Architrouve is proud topresent the live classical music performance by the Callisto Ensemble. Foundedin 2003, the Callisto Ensemble erases boundaries between antique and modernmusic. The ensemble members, violinists Stefan Hersh and Robert Waters, violistRoger Chase, and cellist Julian Hersh, bring contemporary music to lifealongside passionate performances of standard masterpieces. The CallistoEnsemble gives audiences a unique window to the language of modern composers,through season-long surveys of a living composers' works and through theprovocative juxtaposition of old and new.

 Austrian wines will be served by award winning wine maker Paul Lehrner. Come have a seat and listen to classical music, taste award winning wine, while viewing the current salon exhibition of Fine Art Rescue. 

Works of acclaimed composer Bernard Rands will be featuredin the concert along with works of Aitken, Vieuxtemps, and Brahms. Throughoutthe concert, members of the Callisto Ensemble provide oral program notes,further strengthening the audience's connection with the music they arehearing.
